CisionScoop: Andrea Thompson has joined Scientific American on March 5 as the associate editor of sustainability. She had previously served as a senior science writer at Climate Central since 2014.
CisionScoop: Maria Carter has now become a full-time freelancer after serving at Hearst’s Country Living Online and Woman’s Day Online. She served as an online features editor, as well as a senior editor from 2016 until this year. She covers business, culture, and women’s issues.
The Washington Post welcomes Amie Ferris-Rotman as their newest Russia correspondent based in Moscow. Ferris-Rotman had covered Moscow for Reuters from 2007 to 2011 she covered Moscow for Reuters. She also previously worked for The Wall Street Journal, Foreign Policy, and was a Journalism Fellow at Stanford University in 2013.
After nearly five years Jing Cao has said farewell to Bloomberg News. He reported on technology out of New York City, and is now the head of user engagement at NewsPicks USA.
Ben Seal is now managing editor of American Lawyer and will oversee the planning, editing and writing for the magazine. Before this he spent four years as the The Legal Intelligencer’s magazines and supplements editor, as well as a year reporting on state courts and legislature in Pennsylvania. h/t Talking Biz News
Debtwire welcomed Paula Seligson as a new high yield bonds reporter in February. She comes to Debtwire after working briefly with Reuters covering national affairs.
Maggie Malina, the head of scripted programming at VH1 and MTV, has stepped down from her position. She oversaw both networks’ scripted series and her departure comes after the networks’ move in the direction of mostly unscripted programming and she had been at Viacom since 2005.
After over six years with NBC’s WGRZ-TV in Buffalo, NY, Jonah Javad has moved to WFAA-TV, ABC’s North Texas affiliate, to serve as their sports reporter. He held the same role at WGRZ-TV and before that held the same role at KOMU-TV in Columbia, MO back in 2010.
John Zeigler is joining the WKOW-TV weather team in Madison, WI this week. He will be their meteorologist for the 5pm and 10pm broadcasts, and was most recently the chief meteorologist for Fox’s WJXY-TV in Charlotte, NC.
