Every year we set new year resolutions that we end up forgetting about by March. But with it being the start of a new decade, it might be time to start a new way to stay on track for the year.
Here are 4 PR resolutions for the new year. 
1. Set one goal to follow per month.
It doesn’t matter what kind of goal it is, just setting a goal to follow/execute each month will allow you to have a consistent and efficient PR plan. Your goal could be as simple as send out one press release per month or email pitch x number of journalists. Set it, reach it and achieve it!
Level up: OKRs. Set big stretch goals and even if you don't fully achieve them you'll be ahead of where you are right now. 
2. Work off of a content calendar to stay on track.
One way to stay on track with content planning, is working off of a content calendar. Content calendars allow you to not only plan your marketing approach in advance but also take advantage of specific times of year when certain campaigns will succeed. Level up: Work with Demand Gen and/or sales (depending on how your organization is structured) to ensure you’re all on the same page with what’s coming out and what you can promote. 
3. Stay consistent with blog posts. 
Your blog should already be your main priority. In 2020 regardless if your blog is your priority or not, the only way to keep your audience engaged is to have a consistent blog. Work on scheduling content ahead of time (see resolution two) and stay in the know of what is newsworthy for your target audience. That will give you new content to write each week to keep your blog meaty. 
Level up: Put in some extra work before the holidays so you have a blog queue built up for when life inevitably happens. 
4. Revitalize the press release. 
The press release is not dead, it just needs some fine tuning. This is something you can work on for 2020. Level up: Experiment with adding new types of media to your press releases to see how they do. Don’t have the budget for that? Take the same strategy to social media instead.
