Media Moves at ABC News, CNN & CNBC, New Senior Editor at The Verge
CNBC has hired Frank Holland as general assignment reporter, effective Sept. 24. He is based at the network's headquarters in Englewood Cliffs, N.J. Holland comes from NBC Boston where he spent the last two years as a reporter, and covered breaking news, national stories and enterprising original series. Before that, he worked as an anchor/reporter at WGN-TV in Chicago for three years.
CNN's national security correspondent, Jim Sciutto, has joined Poppy Harlow as co-anchor of CNN Newsroom from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. He will continue reporting on national security and fill-in as anchor for other news shows. Sciutto has been with CNN since 2013, and before that spent three years at ABC News as a correspondent form Washington, D.C.
Erielle Reshef has been hired full-time as correspondent at ABC News. She has been a freelance correspondent for the network since 2017. Before that, Reshef worked for Hearst Television as morning anchor for KOCO-TV in Oklahoma City for two years, and as weekend anchor for the station from 2012 to 2014.
Media Matters for America has brought on Parker Molloy as editor at large. She is a former senior staff writer for Upworthy, and has also written freelance pieces on feminism, gender, politics, sports, and pop culture. Her work has appeared in The Advocate, Rolling Stone, The New York Times, HuffPost,Salon, Talking Points Memo, Slate, Glamour, Bustle, The Guardian, Vice, and more.
Very Good Light, the men’s beauty and grooming destination for Generation Z and young Millennials, has hired two editors at large:
- Arienne Thompson Plourde has joined the staff after spending more than a decade at USA Today as assistant editor, entertainment reporter, and online producer. Through the years she has covered Hollywood, fashion and the intersection of race and pop culture.
- Garrett Munce, former senior fashion editor and grooming director for GQ, has also joined the staff as editor at large. He spent six years at GQ and four years at W before that.
After a four year absence, Sean Hollister is set to return to The Verge as senior news editor on Oct. 29, and will oversee the technology news team. He comes from a three-year gig at CNET, where he served as senior editor and worked with the CNET Reviews team. Before that, he was at Gizmodo, where he re-launched and led the product reviews program. Hollister is one of the founding editors of The Verge and worked at the outlet from 2011 to 2014. h/t Talking Biz News
Montana Magazine has ceased publishing after nearly 50 years in business. The magazine was owned by Lee Enterprises, and was known for its scenic photography and “Montana-cana” reporting.
Longtime WCCO-TV sports anchor and sports director, Mark Rosen, has announced that he will retire from the Minneapolis CBS station in early 2019. He has been with WCCO for 50 years, and first walked into the newsroom as a high school student.
KRON-TV, the MyNetworkTV-affiliated station in San Francisco, has hired Sanaz Tahernia as reporter/anchor. She was previously a live morning reporter at KRNV-TV in Reno, Nevada, and reported on breaking news and events around Northern Nevada. Before that, she spent six months at TEGNA in Maine as multimedia journalist.
